And presumably many unplanned babies from the suddenly fruitful owners that owned one, or both, of these guys.<\/p>\n<p>Bennett was as unlikely a candidate to go on an 11-game terror as was his counterpart at quarterback Volek.<\/p>\n<p>After an injury to starting QB Steve McNair, Volek took the helm.<\/p>\n<p>In eight starts, he threw for 2,785 yards, 18 TD and 7 INTs. He became only the fourth quarterback in NFL history\u2014along with Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, and Phil Simms \u2014to pass for over 400 yards in two consecutive games.<\/p>\n<p>Volek\u00a0set the record for passing yards in back to back games with 918.<\/p>\n<p>Check out John William Volek&#8217;s game stats from week 8 to week 15:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10339 lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/billy-volek-2004-stats.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"156\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10339 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/billy-volek-2004-stats.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"156\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>Volek&#8217;s explosion (or &#8220;sudden eruption&#8221; as Mrs. Volek calls it)\u00a0got everyone&#8217;s juices flowing. &#8220;Imagine if he started for an entire season,&#8221; thought countless league GMs.<\/p>\n<p>But Volek never would.<\/p>\n<p>He was eventually traded to the San Diego Chargers where he backed up Philip Rivers for five seasons, though he did score the game-winning touchdown in the 2007 AFC Divisional Playoffs to send the Chargers to the AFC Championship.<\/p>\n<p>As trigger man for the most lethal QB\/WR combo of 2004, he is historically overshadowed by the performance of Drew Bennett.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick taste of their potency:<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"lazyload\" data-src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/b9fooazNnJM\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It was like that, every game, for two months.<\/p>\n<p>Bennett\u00a0tied an NFL record by scoring eight touchdowns in a three-game span, 11 in 11 games. He even threw a 26-yard TUD to Derrick Mason.<\/p>\n<p>Check out his wicked three game stretch from Week 12 to Week 14:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10340 size-full wp-image-10340 lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/i80sportsblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/drew-bennett-2004-stats.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"137\" height=\"67\" \/><\/noscript><\/p>\n<p>So insane was D.B.&#8217;s performance, that he parlayed it into a 6-year, $30 million dollar deal with the Rams in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>After his 80 catch, 1,247 yard 11 TUD 2004, Bennett\u00a0accumulated 138 receptions, 1,854 yards and 10 TUDs <strong><em>over the next four years<\/em><\/strong> before retiring.<\/p>\n<p>You had to see the Volek\/Bennett connection in 2004 to absorb the full weirdness, the abrupt deep TUDS, the completely unexpected video game-like antics.<\/p>\n<p>For half of &#8217;04 it wasn&#8217;t <em>if<\/em> they were going to go off, but <em>when<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Drew Bennett and Billy Volek were just like Hall and Oates; they were nothing without each other.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend we will find out if the Titans can bulldoze their way into the Super Bowl in a similar,
